personality Emmett is a naturally cheerful and childish character. He loves to laugh and make jokes, and would try to lighten up tense situations with his sense of humor. Unlike some of his family members, he never hesitates to speak his mind, which makes Edward very comfortable to be around him. He appears to be thoughtless, impatient, reckless, makes rash decisions and allow his instincts to take over, but also optimistic and never worries about things beyond his control. He also has a competitive nature. He displays no hesitation at the possibility of hunting, killing and fighting other vampires. Despite his tendency to fight, he would sometimes willingly miss out on such an opportunity to protect those he loves. People often underestimate Emmett’s intelligence. He can be smarter than he usually seems. Emmett is one of the youngest vampires in the Cullen family, which is why the scent of human blood is sometimes harder for him to resist. He does very well when things get out of hand and could resist Bella's blood when she was human. Despite being the most intimidating Cullen, Emmett is actually very loving and caring to his wife Rosalie Hale and the rest of his family. During free time, he likes to play competitive sports and games, especially anything that involves a physical challenge. His favorite animal prey are bears, and would often wrestle with one before killing it. He also enjoys playing chess with complicated rules, but prefers to play with Jasper and Rosalie rather than Edward and Alice, because of their gifts to anticipate his moves. Emmett drives a red Jeep Wrangler modified for off-roading. BIOGRAPHY Emmett Dale McCarty was born into a large scotch-Irish famility the small town of Gatlinburg, Tennessee in 1915. He was one of five, with four brothers, three of them being older than him, and one younger sister. Emmett was sent to work on the railroads with his brothers while his younger sister stayed at home to help his mother with housework. He loved his family and was very close to his siblings and mom. As a human adolescence, he was considered by his parents to be rather wild – he never worried about the consequences of his actions, often choosing to gable, consume large amounts of alcohol and womanize. He enjoyed hunting various animals; he kept his family supplied with game. It was 1935 when Emmett was turned into a vampire by Carlisle Cullen. Rosalie Hale had come across him being mauled by a black bear in the mountains of Tennessee, leaving him almost dead. Rosalie had saved him from the bear and carried him over one hundred miles, back to her newly adopted father in order for him to turn Emmett, fearing that she wouldn’t be able to resist killing him. Despite the horrendous attack and excruciating pain of the transformation, Emmett describes the experience as being “saved by an angel, who brought him to God.” Carlisle had tried to numb the pain of the transformation for Emmett by injecting him with painkillers, but the venom burned it out before it had chance to spread through his system. After he awoke, Carlisle and Rosalie had explained to Emmett that he was a vampire. Unlike they had expected, he had not been upset by this news. He had simply accepted it and announced that “hell isn’t so bad if you get to keep an angle with you.” Emmett still cared very deeply for his human family, but he knew that he wasn’t able to return; he hadn’t wanted to harm them or curse them with being a vampire. Instead, he had asked Edward to prepare a bag of money in hope of easing the pain of losing a hardworking son who brought money into the house, and personally left it on the porch of their house. He has never looked back. At first, Emmett struggled adjusting to the Cullen’s rule of only feeding on animals and on many occasions, he had cracked and tasted human blood. As a result, the family had been forced to move around the United States. He had come across two strangers over the years whose blood had sung to him, causing him to lose control of himself instantly. Two years after being turned into a vampire and joining the Cullen Coven, Emmett found himself in Forks, Washington where they came across a pack of shape-shifting wolves. There was hostility at first, the shape shifters were fearful of the Cullen’s as they had had run-ins with red-eyed vampires in the past. But once Carlisle and this others had been able to convince the chief that they were of no harm to them or humans, they were able to make a treaty for a peaceful resolve. As a result, they were forbidden to bite any humans and to ever step on La Push ground again. Emmett has married Rosalie repeatedly over the decades since he has joined the coven. This is due to Rosalie’s love of being the centre of attention. Emmett would do whatever and give her anything in order to make her happy. She is his angel, and wherever she goes, he follows. They are very much like ting and yang. Emmett is happy and carefree with a sarcastic sense of humour while Rosalie can come across as quite abrasive until you get to know her.
