Nova Jaci Echohawk here I lay dying general info
personality Although she can sometimes look unfriendly, the fact of the matter she is quite friendly, only recently have people found this out, due to her being sick. She would have been friendly to people from the get-go of meeting them, after all new friends and old friends are always a good thing. She says the more friends, the merrier, one can never have too many friends. She is the type who will make a complete goof ball of herself just to make someone laugh and feel better. She has a loyalty to friends and family that knows no bounds (except perhaps if it was harmful to them and to their health). She feels that loyalty goes hand-in-hand with being a shifter, one has to trust their instincts and be loyal to those who are loyal to them in return. She is protective of her family more so than her friends, her parents mean the world to her and she would do anything to make sure that they were not hurt. Although she knows her father can take care of himself, but she knows her mother is only human and thus is much more protective of her mother. She has a respect for all life, not only animals, but plants and other living organisms as well. She sees that life is precious and thus she would not want to snuff anyone’s life out (even those of vampires). She would prefer to keep the peace for as long as possible. She also is respectful to her elders, seeing them as much more wise than her so she tries to take their advice into account, rather than just brush them off. She knows who she is inside and out, how many people can say that? She is just now learning what she is, but is determined that it does not change her at the core of who she is. She knows her own mind better than anyone, so she more than likely will not change her mind once it is made up. She is actually quite self-conscious of how she looks to a degree, believe others are much more prettier than she is. She still sees the girl whose body was ravaged by disease at times, so she has a distorted self-image. With her phasing now, she is much more easily angered, her temper is horrible and causes her to think irrationally or to act irrationally, if she is not calmed down. So far only her mother is the one who can calm her down and keep her calm. She does not eat meat, she feels that she is eating something living, something with a face so she does not do it. With the exception of seafood, it does not bother her so much to eat seafood. Perhaps due the look, texture and smell of meat during her sickness, it only made her nauseous, so even now she won’t eat meat, tofu burgers and such for her. Plus it ties into the respect for life thing as well. BIOGRAPHY Nova was born on the reservation at La Push, although her father was full Native American, her mother on the other hand was from New York, having moved to Forks sometime in her 20s, and meeting her father. Her father had the shifter gene, although he had not phased in sometime because there were no vampires around for years. Despite this, recently he did imprint on his wife when vampires returned to La Push, which was pure dumb luck, considering if he was married to her and imprinted on someone else, which would cause problems. Nova grew up, knowing the legends as well as anyone in the tribe, and knew how rare it was to have a female shifter. Which she thought was bullshit in her mind, but overall, she is rather accepting of how life throws curveballs. While she was young, she had gotten sick with cancer, aggressively at that, the doctors did not expect Nova to make it past the year, due to this, she kept mostly to herself, or with her parents, not wanting the entire tribe knowing she was sick. This was what made Nova a fighter in the sense that she does not give up, she fought back against the disease, keeping it at bay to where it did not kill her. Although, it had made her reclusive to other people, she simply did not want to get attached to anyone else, especially if she had to leave them in the end. It was an unselfish thing to do she rationalized, her parents stayed by her side as often as they could, but eventually it did leak out that Nova was possibly dying. But she did not die, she did not grow weaker, due to her faith and hope that she’d get better eventually. Her mother was a sort of artist, painter and jewelry maker, it was simple to do from home so she could stay with Nova. Nova had actually learned about art and jewelry making and she was quite skilled at it, it also kept her morale up. She was mostly home-schooled by her father, who was a teacher, after all it was better for her to stay at home and learn than to risk going outside with a weakened immune system. She only ever really left the house when it was time for doctor’s appointments or treatments, she had even lost her hair for a while. It gave her a sense of being unpretty, but even then she connected with support groups online and with people online. Then the Cullens moved back, and desperate they took Nova to Dr. Cullen, despite knowing who he was and what he was. This created a bond between them, she found she liked Dr. Cullen despite him being a cold one, and during treatments he would actually stay and play chess with her, or checkers. But after a few weeks, one thought that she was going to die, she was getting worse, until finally something clicked. That was when she started to phase, and when she did, it drew out the cancer and killed it. At first, Nova was scared that she was some type of monster, not wanting to hurt or kill anyone, but her father sat down with her, for he had phased too again, and this time he imprinted her mother. He explained to her that the legends were true, and that she was not a monster by any means, but that now she had to watch her temper carefully. Nova was slightly grateful for the phasing, the shifting for it cured her of her disease, but she also knew that it meant that more vampires were near their home. Nova’s mother actually is Nova’s calming anchor, no matter how angry she gets, her mother can always calm her down and keep her from hurting someone, and it is the same for her father. Nova does not know what to think about vampires, especially after she has met the Cullens, for monsters they do not wish to do harm to anyone or even drink human blood, so she looks at it in a different way, vampires are like humans, some are good, some are bad, it is all about choices. But Nova discovered that due to a heightened sense of smell, that vampires smell like death and rot, and she did not like it at all. Nova is adjusting to being healthy, adjusting to being able to live a somewhat normal life, and to connect to the tribe now, and to people in general. After all, everybody needs someone else at times, someone apart from the madness, from the family, right? | ooc info ☆ NAME Rosealee ☆ AGE 30 ☆ OTHER CHARACTERS N/A ☆ TIMEZONE EST ☆ HOW DID YOU FIND US?
