That’s because of how blunt she is, and not only is she well aware of the fact, she embraces it. Some might take it as her missing a heart or being anything but fun, however, she does care about others. She just shows it differently, albeit at the top of her list is her little brother, Seth, and his apparent desire to be gnawed to death by vampires or by being a giant puppy in human and wolf forms. Still. Leah is difficult by nature and doesn’t make a habit of letting people in. Especially considering how many already know her business.

So Jake is grasping the reality that he is now his own alpha - i wasn't sure if you wanted Leah to follow him like the Breaking Dawn books, it's up to you and completely open, but these two need to have a thread for sure, i was thinking perhaps on the beach - Jake could have sought Leah out to find out where her head is at?

I would definitely like Leah to follow Jake, if you don't mind. As in the Breaking Dawn book, she definitely needs to break away from Sam because that's her equivalent of Bella until/unless she develops feelings for or imprints on someone else. Also I can't see her leaving the La Push/Forks area altogether for an extended period to keep an eye on her little brother with all the craziness going on no matter which pack a Seth might choose. So Jake's pack would be the perfect medium of separation from the whole Sam situation and being a protective older sibling.
Besides, someone has to annoy Jake about being an Alpha.
Ultimately, I completely agree that they need a thread, I love your idea, and think the beach is the perfect spot for Jake to get a picture of where her head is!

Emily is new in town, so perhaps Leah could find a friend in Emily - someone not connected to the wolf packs. A breath of fresh air? She lives on the res and goes to school, so as many familiar faces as is possible would be nice.

It would really be good for Leah to make a friend outside of the packs, especially someone that's new and doesn't know absolutely everything about what's been going on. Plus maybe she could help Emily adjust to the res and everything since she's new?
