I HAVE DIED EVERYDAY WAITING FOR YOU If someone had told Bella that she was about to change the way she thought her life would be, she probably wouldn’t have believed them. After having met Edward, she seemed clear cut to him being the one. But after he left her, disappearing into the day to leave her behind for reasons he believed to be protecting her, depression set in. For months on end she did nothing but sit around, barely going out and doing anything. But with a threat from her father, she used that to get closer to Jacob. And during that time, even after he changed and became what looked like a werewolf, she realized that she would forever be surrounded by the supernatural. But her trip to Volterra made her realize something, while she loved both Edward and Jacob, she loved someone more. People would believe that she would have turned towards Edward since she did drop everything to travel to Italy to save him, but she didn’t. The entire ride home, and the silence that filled the car between them, she realized that Edward wasn’t the one for her. The coldness that came from his body, how he could just leave her behind broken and alone, she realized that Jacob wouldn’t. And so, she ran, ran all the way to him and threw herself into his arms. That was a few days ago; a few days spent only to herself and with Jacob. She had yet to see anyone from school or even the Cullen’s; maybe it was for the best though. She was rather scared to face any of them, especially after breaking Edward’s heart and making them a target for the Volturi because she turned her back on becoming a vampire. But here she was, actually having a day to herself. She was supposed to be meeting her father at the local diner since he was expected to be working late, and she decided to park so far away from the damn place. She needed the walk though, the fresh air filling her veins. While it wasn’t sunny, it never was, it wasn’t that dark either. A few patches of sun broke through, but Bella ignored them. They reminded her of Edward and how he sparkled. While yes, she knew she wanted to be with Jacob, a part of her still wondered if she made the right decision when it came to both men. After everything that had happened in Italy, Rosalie was convinced that she would be around Bella for the rest of her eternity. While the thought didn't appeal to her and she questioned the mortal's choice of wanting to give up her humanity, she at least knew that her family's secret would be safe. But when Edward had arrived home without her, it was quite evident to everyone as to what had occurred. Now that the Cullens wouldn't be fulfilling their promise to the Volturi of turning Bella into a vampire, Rosalie knew that they were going to have to pay.
Part of her was beyond happy that Bella had chosen to be with the wolf instead. She had always been convinced that Edward should be with someone of their own kind, and that wasn't Bella. Plus there was the additional bonus of Bella actually caring about her own humanity and choosing to not give that up. Rosalie almost envied the human that had entered their lives the year before. But in the time that she had decided to keep her humanity, she had also put the Cullen family in danger. That was something that would never sit right with Rosalie. This human had entered their lives and uprooted everything to then choose to not go through with the one promise they had made to the Volturi, thus putting that same family she had wanted to join not even one year prior at risk? No, that was completely unacceptable in Rosalie's eyes.
Rosalie had gone into town simply to get away from the dreariness that was ever-present in the Cullen household, hoping to get one minute of peace and quiet to let her mind rest. What she hadn't anticipated was to see Bella in the town, which just lit her fury even more. How could she just walk around town as if nothing was wrong? As if she hadn't just wrecked a part of their lives? Without carefully thinking her actions through, the blonde stalked up to the human, cutting off her path to wherever she was going. "I honestly can't believe you," she spat as she crossed her arms, looking around to make sure that there wasn't anyone around. "Do you understand exactly how many problems you've caused with your little charade?" She couldn't hold back the sigh of anger she let out as she shook her head. "I understand that you probably don't think that it would matter as much as it does, but it's astounding to me how you could be so convinced that you were in love with Edward and wanted to be a part of our lifestyle and then you go and betray him - betray us all - like that."

Bella had only seen Rosalie a few times, most of them when she was with Edward, and she seemed to hate her entirely. Bella never really understood why, from the moment she was welcomed into the Cullen’s home, Rosalie Hale didn’t seem to like her. And while Bella was okay with that, she was rather curious about why her hatred had been towards Bella most of the time. ‘I honestly can't believe you. Do you understand exactly how many problems you've caused with your little charade? I understand that you probably don't think that it would matter as much as it does, but it's astounding to me how you could be so convinced that you were in love with Edward and wanted to be a part of our lifestyle and then you go and betray him - betray us all - like that.’Bella felt openly attacked and upset with herself at the same time, “Rosalie I understand you probably hate me more than you already did, and right now I do not need this. I already feel bad enough that I broke Edward’s heart, that I messed up with no longer wanting to be a vampire. But you don’t need to attack me for it,” she said in a slightly annoyed tone that may have sounded bratty to any outsider. “Is it an apology that you want? I’ll give you one, but it won’t change my mind. I picked Jacob, and while Edward will always have a special place in my heart, I realized that I didn’t want that type of relationship. And I will try everything in my power to make it right, to make this whole thing right.”Bella didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, but she didn’t want to be told off for not following her heart, wasn’t that what life was all about? Picking and choosing her battles, following her heart to wherever that lead. “So, if you are here to yell at me, to get me back with Edward, it isn’t going to work Rosalie. We will find another way to fix the whole problem that my change of heart started, but it won’t be betraying what my heart wants. Rosalie couldn't help the humorless laugh that left her lips as she listened to Bella's reasoning behind leaving Edward. Did the human really think that she wanted her back with Edward? That was the furthest thing she could have ever wished for. She shook her head as she looked past Bella and then made eye contact with her. "You honestly think I care about your apologies and whether or not you're following your heart?" She let out another laugh before shaking her head again as she narrowed her eyes. "To be frank, I couldn't give less of a damn about the fact that you left my brother for a mangy wolf. I told Edward from the beginning to not go after you; that you'd be more trouble than you're worth.
"but then I actually started thinking, maybe I was wrong. Sure, I was never fond of you and hated the idea that you were so willing to give up everything you've ever known for someone you knew less than a year. I only entertained the idea of you potentially joining our family one day because for the first time since I can remember, I saw my brother happy." She let out a sigh before looking down at her feet, feeling her ice heart begin to thaw. She couldn't allow that to happen, not here in front of the human who was the cause of everything they had worked so hard to maintain to be threatened. Bella could have messed with Rosalie and it would have been fine; Rosalie had dealt with people before and knew exactly how she would have taken care of it. But to bring in the rest of her family? That was where she drew the line. No one would ever be able to put her family in danger and get away with it.
"you even had me convinced that you still loved him and cared about him when you went off to Italy to help Alice save him from the Volturi. You told the Volturi exactly what they wanted to hear, and you probably thought that you were doing the right thing." The blonde then rolled her eyes before giving the brunette a slight snarl. "But when you promised them that and then decided last second that it wasn't what you actually wanted and wasn't convenient for your heart, you messed with my family and our futures. I really, really hate when people screw over my family.
"So here's what I want to happen, since you so graciously asked me what I wanted. I want to know that you will do whatever it takes to make sure that my family is safe." She crossed her arms and pursed her lips as she looked at the human's eyes. "When it comes down to it, I want to be able to trust that you won't screw us over in the end again. There's going to be a fight on our hands, probably bigger than you could ever begin to imagine. I want to know that you won't let my family get hurt if there's anything - and I do mean anything - that you can do to stop it." She gave the brunette a grimace before rolling her eyes once more. "Do you think you could manage that?"
