FORGOTTEN
IS THE RACE THAT NO ONE KNOWS
[attr="class","itokaytext"]Sometimes secrets were a necessity. Growing up, Kim had known that secrets could be dangerous. She remained secretive. In truth, Kim did not know if her secret was dangerous or not. She did know that it would change the way her people looked at her. Would they understand that neither of her parents had wanted her, that her father had killed her mother and then ran off? That her grandmother could not handle being with her and had moved back to Canada? In a way, the young woman knew that someone needed to know, to be the shoulder she could rely on but who? It was not that Kim did not trust the others her age, it was that she did not know any of them very well. They had mostly been ignoring her all her life and now, even though she was part of the pack, could trust even on the outskirts, she did not know who, outside of Emily Young she could trust.
Today's plans had been simple. Kim got up, cleaned the house, made it look like her grandmother was coming back any day now and then she had left. There was no need for her to lock the door, no one on the rez would break in or steal anything. She would have to have something of value to steal. Going for a walk was supposed to help her empty her mind of her troubles. All it did was help her focus on the same problems that had been there before. That much she could attest too. Her walk had taken her through much of the reservation and looped around several areas twice enough that she could sense the concern on the faces. Kim contemplated if she wanted to walk all the way to Forks and back. She changed her mind on that rather quickly. So instead, she made her way to the beach.
First Beach was a favorite hang out for both the locals and the kids from Forks. Not that she minded too much. People could help distract her if they were the right people. Some of the kids from Forks got so wrapped up in their things that they didn't bother to talk to the Rez Kids, but she would figure something out. Arriving at First Beach, Kim toed off her shoes and moved to one of the logs closer to the water. Setting her shoes behind her on the sand, Kim moved her feet into the water and glanced out at the waves. La Push was her home, the only home she had ever known but right now it felt foreign to her. What did Kim need to do to get that feeling back? To feel like La Push is where she belonged. With a sigh, Kim closed her eyes and tried to force thought and concern from her mind. She wanted to find peace.
