personality Rosalie has often had the words narcissistic and self-centered associated with her name, but those two words are only part of her personality. While those are the most visible traits, she's also very loyal to her family and friends, so loyal that she would gladly go and fight for them if they were threatened. The biggest thing to note about Rosalie is her desire to be human again. If given the option, she would give anything and everything to go back to being human and get her second chance at life. This desire causes her to treasure humanity and all that it has to offer. BIOGRAPHY Rosalie Hale was born on April 15, 1915, in Rochester, New York. She was the eldest child of three and the only daughter to her housewife mother and banker father. She was constantly praised for her looks by her parents which reinforced her vain and selfish behaviors. Though her parents always longed for a higher status or more money, Rosalie was always content with knowing that she was beautiful. One day, after dressing up especially nice to drop off her father's "forgotten" lunch at the bank, Rosalie caught the eye of Royce King II, the bank owner's son. He began sending Rosalie flowers, starting with roses and progressing to violets. Their relationship was based on physical attraction, however, due to Royce's constant work at the bank. The couple was quickly engaged and one week before their wedding, Rosalie went to visit her best friend and her family. She saw the love that her best friend and husband had and for the first time, she finally realized just how lacking her relationship with Royce was. She left and walked home that night, shaken by her thoughts. She ended up stumbling upon her fiancé and his friends, all of whom were drunk. Royce began to brag about Rosalie's beauty, which inevitably led to her being gang-raped and beaten in the streets and left for dead. When Rosalie awoke, she heard the voices of the Cullens arguing about her transformation. Edward was angry that Carlisle had turned Rosalie in hopes that she would be his mate. Despite her lack of feelings for Edward, Rosalie was angry and hurt by his rejection. She was shocked that Edward wasn't attracted to her and wouldn't be able to view her in the way that Carlisle viewed Esme. Her mood only went downhill when she saw her reflection in the mirror and saw her improved beauty because it meant that she was no longer human and was in fact a vampire. She soon began to avenge her death, starting by killing each of Royce's friends one by one. She saved her ex-fiancé for last and wore a wedding gown. She found him in a windowless and guarded room. She killed the two guards before making her way into the room where she tortured Royce to death. Despite killing seven men, she made sure that there was no blood shed as she knew she wouldn't be able to resist it and she didn't want any part of them inside of her body. After she completed her revenge, she reluctantly joined the Cullen family. In 1935, Rosalie found a man named Emmett McCarty being mauled by a bear. His features reminded her of her best friend's son, which was what influenced her to save his life. She carried him over a hundred miles to Carlisle and asked him to change Emmett. When Emmett changed, he became Rosalie's mate. After his change, the couple rarely separated and Rosalie had finally found her true soulmate. She would have them marry frequently, partly due to the excitement of weddings and also partly due to her love of being in the spotlight. Two years after Emmett's change, the family found themselves face-to-face with a pack of shape-shifters who had had encounters with vampires before and feared them. Once Carlisle discussed with the chief and proved that they would not cause any harm, they made a treaty that stated the Cullens could stay as long as they didn't bite a human and they never set foot on La Push land again. Once Alice and Jasper had joined the family, Rosalie and Jasper would often play as biological siblings due to their similar features. Over the timespan of her life, Rosalie found a love of collecting cars and became a brilliant mechanic. She has attended multiple high schools and universities and has degrees in electrical engineering, astrophysics, and business. She has also studied medicine in an attempt to help Carlisle keep on track with all of the medical advancements taking place. Upon Bella's move to Forks, Rosalie had instant problems with her as soon as Edward stopped a car from killing her. She was worried that it would give their secret away and even considered killing Bella to keep their secret safe, but was persuaded otherwise by Carlisle and Alice. Upon the start of Edward and Bella's relationship, Rosalie was jealous of Bella because she was able to catch Edward's attention after Rosalie thought that no one possibly could. She also couldn't help but dislike Bella for the mere fact that she had chosen to fall in love with a vampire. Because of these reasons, Rosalie chose to ignore Bella. When James threatened Bella's life, Rosalie only agreed to help her because Carlisle said that she was family now since she was with Edward. After graduating from Forks High School, Rosalie went on vacation for a while to Africa with Emmett. Upon returning home, she reluctantly attended Bella's eighteenth birthday party. When Bella began to bleed profusely, she chose to leave the room because she knew that she wouldn't be able to control her urge for long. After the Cullens moved away from Forks, Rosalie and Emmett chose to get married again. While they were adjusting to a new life, she found it to be uncomfortable without Edward's presence. Upon hearing Alice's vision of Bella jumping off of the cliff, she told Edward in hopes that it would bring him back to the family and they could go on about their lives as normal before Bella had arrived. She only found out that her plan backfired when Alice called her to tell her that Rosalie's decision to tell Edward of the incident caused him to go to the Volturi and cause a scene in hopes that they would kill him.
