personality Aro is enthusiastic about anything and everything that could advance his own coven's power. He's not above manipulating people to get what, or in some cases who he wants. These traits and patience are a deadly combination in a ruling vampire, and he has ordered the deaths of many of his own kind not only because they've broken their laws, but because it helped him get something he desired. Everyone gives him an excuse eventually, all he has to do is wait. Among the coven, there are few Aro truly cares for. His fellow leaders, their mates, and a select few of the guard enjoy the title of his loved ones. Others are simply useful to have around, bit easily sacrificed should the need arise. For the most part, these people know who they are. He doesn't often waste time pretending that someone is more important to him than they actually are. BIOGRAPHY His mother's son. It was expected in those days that the eldest son of a family his father's trade and carry on the family business, and Aro was originally prepared to do just that, but while he learned his trade from his father, he learned so much more at his mother's knee. Warm, kind, and welcoming, or so she seemed to most who knew her. It wasn't your station in life that mattered, but your reputation. Even a woman with no real power of her own could bend a village to her beck and call. His sister's problem. He adored Didyme so when she came along, and was wholeheartedly against the idea of her getting married to anyone he could not cow into submission to make sure they never hurt her. Then he was attacked, by a seemingly random stranger in the night. He was burning, screaming, but no one was around to see him, or the creature he'd become. When he first awoke and found a human to drink from he was horrified when he realized what he'd done. How could he take someone's life just to quench a bit of thirst? As time went on those thoughts dulled, disappearing almost completely as his self control improved. It was only then, when he was certain he could control himself around her, that he returned to his childhood home. It was a horrible feeling, being alone. Not knowing how many others like him the world held. A new family. He turned Didyme, and later Sulpicia, and together they formed their own coven with Marcus, Caius, and Athenodora. Soon he found a new hobby, other gathering talented vampires to form what would become the Volturi Guard. Together they overthrew the Romanians and seized power as rules of the vampire world. There was a time, a short period of time really, barely worth mentioning, that he had considered killing his sister in order prevent her from leaving the coven and absconding with her mate Marcus, who Aro was determined to keep as one of the three Volturi leaders. Eventually though, the siblings worked things out, and Marcus and Didyme remain in Volterra to this day. The jewels in his crown. He had not planned to turn them so young. He and his brothers had already decreed it against the law to turn children, and they were most certainly that, but the situation was dire. If he waited any longer he would lose the children completely, they would be burned for charges of witchcraft. He would not regret it. Even now Jane and Alec were two of his dearest and most treasured guards. He adored them both as his own children, and also for their gifts. A puzzlement. When the young Cullen boy came begging for death, he knew they couldn't kill him. It would be such a waste to destroy a gift like that. He only got more excited when Alice and the not-so-dead Isabella turned up. To think, someone who could block his gift while still mortal! She would make for a truly powerful shield, if they could just convince her to join them.
