| J acob hated compromise, but unfortunately he had a bit of a soft spot when it came to some people. Those people being a single person. Bella. He adored her, but her guilt about the whole situation meant Jake felt a duty to help out whenever and however he could. That meant, on this occasion, meeting with the psychic bloodsucker - apparently by request - in Forks. Bella had apparently received said request when catching up with…what was her name? Oh, Alice…and so, of course he’d agreed. All be it begrudgingly. Spending the afternoon in Forks, the one place he had no real standing, stuck in a small confined space with a stinking bloodsucker wasn’t exactly Jake’s favourite plan. He rolled his eyes, and sighed as he pushed through the door of the diner. This had been his only demand, that they met somewhere public to talk. He wanted enough witnesses around should she have other ideas of how to spend their afternoon - he wasn’t about to be a bloodsuckers supper. Following the waitress to the empty table, Jacob placed a quick order…he already knew what he wanted. “Two cheeseburgers, a large fries, onion rings, six nuggest, and a large chocolate milkshake…please,” he was a growing boy, food was a given. He grinned at the waitress, who looked a tad bewildered by the order - clearly not many pack members stopped by here. At least the La Push cafe had gotten used to the bigger orders. He laughed quietly, if only the people of Forks knew the truth, Jake and the others were running around saving their lives on a daily basis - and not one of them knew it. He sat back and waited for the order, and the bloodsucker, to arrive. This was sure to be an interesting meeting. He flipped out his phone and sent Bella a quick text, Just arrived, if she tries anything funny…you owe me. Pushing the phone back into his pocket, he glanced around the small diner. It was a quaint place, not much going on, but that was okay - the smell coming from the kitchen set Jakes mouth watering. Man, he was hungry. |

Alice had been hoping for a talk since the realization that the situation with Bella choosing Jacob instead of Edward left not only the Cullens in a position of disregard of/trespass of the Volturi rules, but also left Alice and Edward's words of assurance to Aro back in Volterra ringing hollowly..no fulfillment, false promise. And this meant the coven and those they knew could be in serious trouble. Did Bella not realize this? Not only had the unseen choice devastated her brother Edward, which concerned Alice because when he had been alone and despairing that he would never find the One, losing his True Love had taken an even worse toll on him. Alice knew this, even though she knew her dear brother was trying to keep it hidden, she had known him long enough, and seen a few glimpses of visions, how deeply this affected him. She wished she could do something to help.
And so she would, in time. She sighed as she stepped out of the car, brushing off her denim capris and straightening her (always fashionable) top, looking at the diner she was supposed to be meeting Jake at for this particular chat. With her sight of Bella's future blocked by Jacob and the other wolves' presences, Alice had taken to email, IM, and phone calls to contact her, in the hope of arranging a very important talk, with Bella's new Love. Neutral ground had seemed the best place, and it didn't hurt that the diner made good food..which meant DogBoy could eat. The name wasn't derogatory, it was a kind of nickname, really. Meant harmlessly, and wouldn't be spoken aloud. That would just be rude; Alice knew better.
Entering the diner, Alice paused to take in the people who were around, and locate Jacob. Spotting him, Alice smiled and headed toward his table, pausing at the counter to order an extra something just for Jake. She knew he'd be hungry even with the load the waitress was now bringing out (which could only be Jacob's). Boys always were, no matter if they were wolf or not. Following the waitress and waiting until everything had been arranged, Alice perched herself on the seat across from him, waiting as the waitress then returned with a triple-stacked whopper of a burger. After ordering a glass of juice for herself (she liked the colors and sometimes the taste, even if she didn't really need it), Alice smiled at Jacob but waited the span of a few minutes to let him start eating; she knew conversations and tempers were usually better when hunger was satisfied, or in the process of doing so. After time had passed, Alice tilted her head.
"Well now, isn't that better? I find that people are much easier and nicer to talk with once they're fed. I actually came to check up on you, Jacob. And Bella. I do hope things are going well?" You're my Forever template by Sammy @ Adox 2.0

| W aiting patiently for his food to arrive, Jacob shifted in his seat. He wasn’t all that happy with the meeting, a little unsure why he’d been summoned. The smell hit him before he saw her…Alice. She was so small, it was strange to think that she could - if she wanted - be so lethal. Jake followed her movement as she headed to the counter…surely she wasn’t going to eat anything, they couldn’t…could they? His brows knitted together, not really sure what to make of the weird situation.
As Alice arrived, so did his food…along with an extra triple-stacked whopper. His mouth watered, there wasn’t the slightest bit of hesitation in his mind, the whole lot would be gone before this lunch meeting ended. He glanced up at Alice, his expression guarded. “Er, thank you?” he mumbled, still not sure what to make of the whole gesture. But the food in front of him was all too inviting, and quickly Jake got stuck in, grabbing a handful of fries and shoving them (with no elegance) into his mouth. Goddamn they tasted good. Jacob listened to Alice carefully, she’d got one thing right - one of the ways to Jakes heart was food - and he would happily listen as long as things didn’t get nasty. “Food is always a good negotiation tool,” he grinned, “but what to you mean check up on me?” He was intrigued, what did she care about his wellbeing? And then Bella’s name was mentioned, ah! That was the real reason. “Bella is, well…she’s struggling with her decision, she feels like she’s let everyone down.” There was no point in hiding it, Bella would probably talk to them all eventually, “I keep a close eye on her, but I know she misses you in particular,” he glanced up, “you don’t visit her anymore.” It wasn’t a question, it was a fact. Jacob took a bite out of one of the three burgers in front of him. “I don’t want to stop her from seeing you, any of you,” he grimaced, he actually wouldn’t mind if Bella didn’t see any of them again…but that wasn’t his decision to make. Shrugging, he waited patiently for Alice’s thoughts…she was bound to have an opinion on the whole situation. Pausing from the feast for a moment, he sat back and studied her expression…hoping to get an idea. Nothing. |

Ever since her discussion with Aro, Alice had been repressing anxiety over a good many things. The future of her family, the Volturi's ultimate decision, and the uncertainty of Bella's future as well as the Shifter packs. If the Volturi did come, in the end, Jacob and his entire people would be included in the repercussions of the issue at hand..Bella. It was funny, because Jake seemed to pick up on the subject as quickly as she had expected him to; he was intelligent, no matter what vampires might think of the 'Dog-kind'. However, he was missing a vital point in the topic: himself. She had come to discuss his well-being as well. Watching him dig in, Alice was delighted to see that he did indeed appreciate the extra food, and she waited until he paused in his meal to pick up the discussion.
Folding her hands on the tabletop, Alice tilted her head as she listened to his part of the conversation, her golden eyes studying him with curiosity. He certainly seemed well enough, by the look of him, and she understood that Bella might be missing them. With the recent heartbreak, however, a strain had been placed on the family, and Alice had, out of respect for her brother, refrained from contact, though it had left her feeling as though she had lost a friend, and helpless to aid anyone because she could no longer see the future concerning Bella with her surrounded by the Quileute wolves. Jacob, among others, was like a soundproof room, in regard to Alice and be visions. He might have remembered that, as it had been key in the unseen rescue of Bella by Jacob after her 'cliff diving'. It might have been comforting, not having the visions around him, if it wasn't for the fact that anything involving him, including Bella, she couldn't see. And that bothered her, because Bella had been..and maybe still was, like another sister to the pixie-esque Cullen.
Jake's words about Bella feeling like she let everyone down didn't surprise the pixie. She knew Bella probably did blame herself, and even though it was true that the choice made had devastated Edward, and put a heavy strain on the coven in general, it could not be said that Alice blamed her. While she herself had not had a chance for a carefree and happy childhood, or even young adult life, Alice could understand the difficulty Bella might have felt in her decision. It was hard to choose when you loved two people..it had been plainly obvious, the feelings between Jacob and Bella, when Alice had arrived at Charlie's.. Sheriff Swan's house..to affirm what had transpired with Bella beyond her last vision. Yet Bella had immediately chosen to go to Volterra to save Edward, and so naturally, things had seemed set. It seemed, however, fate (and humanity) had a very fickle sense of humor.
"She chose you, that is plain and simple. She shouldn't be so hard on herself for choosing love. It's obvious she loves you, as well as Edward. But she chose you. I did come here to find out how she is, but I also honestly do want to know about you, too. After all, you are the one who will see her every day and take care of her. I can't see her future since her choice, and so.."
Alice sat up straight, her golden eyes serious and fixed on Jacob. If ever the pixie was dead serious in a discussion, this was one of those times.
"I have to know that without any doubt, without any uncertainty, that you will take care of her and protect her as we would. I have to know that you will make sure she is happy and safe. I need to know that, no matter what, Bella is okay."

| I t wasn’t that Jake didn't trust the pixie-like vampire, in fact…aside from the Doctor, she was the only one he did kind of trust. Though he wasn’t sure why, perhaps it was because of way Bella had spoken of her - and the fact that despite everything, she had come back to see Bella…although that had caused its own problems. He carried on picking at his food, watching her with careful eyes and studying her delicate face. Ugh, they were all so annoyingly…weirdly beautiful, it creeped Jacob out a bit. He listened to her little speech - rolling his eyes a little at her comments. “I think it’s a little more complicated than all that,” he waved his hand dismissively, not really sure how to cover the whole ordeal. Sure Bella had picked him, but it hadn’t exactly been an easy choice. His mind glazed over the painful twenty-four hours he’d waited for her decision, involuntarily he shuddered. Jacob’s eyes narrowed at her, was Alice trying to trick him? Since when did the perfect Cullen’s ever care about the pack, or Jake in particular. From what he remembered, she hadn’t spoken very highly of him the last time she’d been in town. Warning Bella that he and the pack were trouble. Ha! He’d definitely blown that theory out of the water. “Oh yeah, you’re sight thingy is blocked by me, I forgot,” he scoffed, how easily could he hide using the wholes in her vision, if Bella needed protecting, he could do it without worrying. “That kills you, huh? If you pardon the pun,” Alice didn’t like not being in control, that much was obvious. It was interesting, at least to Jake, to see this side of the bloodsuckers. Before, he’d never imagined sitting down to talk reasonably with them, and yet here he was…stuffing his face whilst being lectured to by a leech. Alice’s next words made Jake freeze mid-chew. He didn’t like the fact he was being seemingly tested, with the pixie going all serious on him. “Are you joking?” He spat, having swallowed the mouthful of fries. “You seriously think I wouldn’t put my life on the line to ensure Bella was safe? You’re really questioning that?!” He had to mentally compose himself, it wasn’t like he was about to lose it or anything…he just chose not to let it get that far. “I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of imprinting but…” Jake let his voice trail off, watching Alice for her reaction, “it doesn’t matter what the circumstance is, Bella will be safe…always,” his words were soft but assertive, there was no way Bella would come to any harm under his watch. “What’s it to you anyway? You all left her, remember?” The wolf in him wasn’t playing nice anymore. |
