E mily glanced at her watch, she couldn’t believe it was 4:13pm…how on earth was she going to waste any more time on a Saturday? There was no way she was about to give up and go home this early…there had to be something to do! Her long, dark curls caught in the light breeze as she wandered down the main street toward what looked like a row of shops. She’d spent the day investigating La Push, at the beach and then made her way into Forks to check out the forest walks – there was plenty of hiking to be had – before heading into the town. She’d spent several hours finding things to do – but in reality, when exploring a new area, she’d accomplished what should have taken a few weeks in those hours.Letting out a long sigh, Emily checked her phone – no texts or calls, what a surprise. Her friends back in Seattle had left her high and dry, having moved away from the big city only a week ago she’d not heard from a single one. No one had invited her back for the weekend to hang, even though the drive wasn’t all that bad. At least she knew now that her friends weren’t really that loyal, and she was probably better off without them. La Push and Forks were kind of like what you expected to see in a movie, or at least that was the decision Emily had come to. Especially a movie that featured a small town, like one of those Nicholas Sparks efforts. At least the school in Forks and a bigger population than the Reservation, she had tried to convince her mom to let her go there – she still was trying – however, at present her mom wasn’t moving on the matter. As she looked up at the grey clouds, Emily frowned. When her mom and dad had told her they were moving, she at least hoped it’d be somewhere warmer. Still, she was kind of used to the weather, it wasn’t vastly different from Seattle. She shrugged, glancing at the shops as she neared them. There wasn’t a huge amount on offer, but one of the store fronts did catch her eye. Emily read the sign, “Newton Outfitters,” she said to herself. Pushing the door open, she wandered in to browse – camping had always kind of appealed to her. Perhaps, if she made any friends there may be an adventure on the cards. That was a big ‘IF’ though.
